Average Weekly Hours: 4 Hours Weekly
- The successful candidate will need to have a flexible and adaptable schedule, particularly leading up to and during performance periods and as required.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
Contract Length: 40 consecutive weeks; First 8 weeks of the contract will be a probationary period
Renumeration: $4000 gross for the duration of the contract
Position Supervised by: Evangelist Ray Kwok, under the guidance and direction of the Rector/Senior Pastor.
Reports To: Wardens representing the Board of Directors of the Church

About the Church
A parish of the Anglican Diocese of Canada, Good Shepherd serves the Greater Vancouver area, particularly members of the Chinese community, in nurturing and discipling in the Christian faith. We currently have an English-speaking congregation of 50, a Cantonese congregation of 150, and a Mandarin congregation of 20 in average Sunday attendance, with 30 to 40 Children attending various ministries and programs during the week.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities of the Position
- Little Shepherd Children’s Choir (ages 5 to 15)
- Assists vocal and performance training of children.
- May led a smaller group of children in these trainings.
- Provide live piano accompaniment during training classes and live performance.
- Be a substitute instructor when Conductor is away.
- Little Shepherd Musical Theatre (ages 7 to 14)
- Assists vocal and performance training.
- Assists in the planning, organizing, and execution of training classes.
- May includes curriculum planning, preparing teaching materials, lesson resources, and necessary equipment for the training classes.
- May led a small group training and activities.
- Be a substitute instructor when the main teacher is not available.
- Administrative
- May be asked to provide written reports to the Senior Pastor/Rector, Supervisor, and Board of Directors.
- May be asked to attend certain meetings to provide updates and review of the ministry/program serving in.
- Other tasks, duties, and responsibilities related to the above to programs may be determined by the Senior Pastor/Rector and the Supervisor with the successful candidate.
Qualities and Qualification:
- Possess an authentic faith and walk with Jesus as a baptized Christian in line with the Global Anglican Communion.
- Is fluent in English and Cantonese; ability to communicate in Mandarin is an asset.
- Has knowledge or experience in musical theatre, stage performance, or choral direction.
- Has received formal training (or equivalent experience) in vocal performance and music, with proficiency in piano accompaniment suitable for rehearsals and live performances.
- Ability to arrange, transpose, or adapt music to suit different vocal ranges and skill levels is a strong asset.
- Able to play other musical instruments is an asset.
- Has strong organizational and administrative skills that compliment the various duties and responsibilities.
- Has a passion to work with children and has previous experience in organizing and working with children.
- Is able to effectively engage with the children and their families.
- Has strong interpersonal and communications skill with a positive attitude to working in a team environment with volunteers and staff members of the church.
- A positive, collaborative attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant federal and British Columbia regulation
- Including having a valid Social Insurance Number.
